Dear readers,
The skin is our body's largest organ. Understanding it isn't always easy, however. Understanding your own skin is essential for maintaining a healthy and radiant glow. Today, I'd like to invite you to sit in front of the mirror with me and explore your inner self. Let's get started.
Step 1. Identify your skin type.
There are four main skin types that we can distinguish without using professional equipment: normal skin, dry skin, combination skin, and oily skin. Knowing which type your skin falls under makes it easier to choose the right products that will work effectively for your skincare routine.
The normal skin:
You won't feel any oily or dry areas on your face. Pores are almost invisible. Your skin shows no signs of blockage or blackheads.
The dry skin:
You won't feel any oily areas, and your skin may feel tight or tense. Pores are barely visible, if at all. There are no signs of blockage or blackheads.
The combination skin:
The oily areas of your face are primarily located in the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin). The rest of your skin can be normal or dry. Pores are clearly visible in oily areas, and signs of blockages and blackheads may be visible.
The Oily skin:
Facial skin has a lot of oily areas or is completely oily. Pores are clearly visible. Oily skin often suffers from blockages and blackheads.
Step 2: How does your skin react?
Do you feel at home in the following statements?
‘My skin feels tight/turns red from certain products.’
‘My skin feels tight/turns red after I get out of the sun.’
‘My skin feels tight/turns red after changing temperature.’
Then it's very possible your current skincare routine isn't the right one for you. Look for products that suit your skin.
Take another look in the mirror. Do you see any changes like acne, dry patches, or fine lines? Be sure to keep these in mind when looking for the right products.
At The SkinLab Limburg we provide tailor-made advice, especially for your skin.
Step 3 Skincare routine
When you think of the word routine, you know you need to be consistent. This also applies to your skin. Make sure you apply your standard routine: cleanser, toner, and moisturizer at least twice a day. That way, you've already got your foundation. Work from this foundation and find products that suit your skin, and stick with it!
Don't forget to protect your skin with a good SPF. Besides protecting against skin cancer and sunburn, this also protects against pigmentation and fine lines.
Getting to know your skin can be challenging, but it's certainly not impossible. By understanding your skin and addressing its concerns effectively, you'll be able to enjoy beautiful and healthy skin for years to come.
